Lines on Ale Poem by Edgar Allan Poe
Fill with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chamber of my brain –
Quaintest thoughts – queerest fancies
Come to life and fade away;
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today.
Believed to have been written in 1848 at a tavern in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Ive heard many say he didnt write this poem, but to me its very poesque, new word? Anyway i found this poem in a book published as being all of poes works. And i really loved it and have remembered it since i was a teen and i’m 65 now! So even if he didnt write it, i still love it, lol!
